Nestled in the heart of Downtown Lee's Summit I created Modern Health KC to provide a functional approach to health while living in our modern world. My journey into health and wellness is not just professional; it's deeply personal. After facing my own health challenges, I embarked on my own deep dive that included many “rabbit holes”. This journey has always circled back to the gut's key role in our overall well-being. This is why it is at the foundation of my newly designed GEM method.
As a board-certified functional medicine practitioner, I am dedicated to empowering women entrepreneurs to reclaim their vitality and grow the business of their dreams without costing them their health. I understand the unique pressures and stresses women face and how they can take a toll on your health. My approach is not about quick fixes but nurturing a sustainable, vibrant lifestyle through targeted nutrition, mindful practices, and a deep understanding of your body's needs.
My mission is simple: Empower business women to invest in their top asset…themselves and infuse their health to successful life and business.
My goal is to illuminate the path to wellness, making it accessible, engaging, and, most importantly, effective. Allowing you to work in your zone of genius and skip the endless “rabbit holes” that I’ve been through.

Credentials
After earning my bachelors degree in biology at the University of Central Missouri, I entered into my doctorate program at Cleveland Chiropractic college to expand my desire to learn how the body works and how to heal humans from the inside out. After graduation, I entered private practice as the owner of Active Body Chiropractic & Wellness. This led to my role as the team chiropractor for FC Kansas City Blues, formerly the area's only professional women’s soccer team. During my time as team chiropractor, I had the pleasure of working with professional and Olympic athletes weekly.
Over a decade of practice, I have expanded my training to become a board-certified clinical nutritionist, licensed sports nutritionist with the National Association of Sports Nutrition, active member of the Institute of Functional Medicine, certified functional medicine practitioner through Functional Medicine University and a member of the International and American Associations of Clinical Nutritionists.
As a native of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, I bleed green & gold… GO PACK GO! I served four years active duty in the United States Air Force with the 13th Bomb Squadron at Whiteman Air Force Base. I now reside in Lee’s Summit with my husband Preston (the other Dr. Howerton) Quinton (12) and Wynston (9). I enjoy peaceful runs around the Legacy loop, weekend getaways to our family farm in Marshall, Missouri, fall days cheering for the Chiefs (part time-fan) and Green Bay Packers, and winters snowboarding in the Rocky Mountains.
